SINOPEC Jinling Branch is one of the major suppliers of high quality hydrocracking transformer oil in China. It has been using the hydrocracking diesel oil process to produce high quality hydrocracking transformer oil, which has also created great benefits for Jinling.
The catalyst used in the original unit was developed and provided by the Petrochemical Research Institute within the Sinopec system. With the increase in years of the equipment usage, the activity of the original diesel hydrogenation catalyst decreases. And when the diesel component run to the middle and last stage, the thick cyclic aromatic hydrocarbons increased, the product color got darker, the oxidation stability got worse, and the product could not be accepted by the market. Such condition greatly affects economic benefits of the company.
In order to improve the performance of the device, Jinling Company approached the former research institute to discuss and solve the quality problem of transformer oil products, but no success was achieved even after many attempts with the research institute, With disappointments, the people in charge of Jinling's equipment became desperate.
In an occasional communication opportunity, Jinling Company learned that Talos has profound technology, experience accumulation in the research, development of catalysts, and the corresponding process. So they entrusted us to solve this problem to give a try, which has achieved the purpose of improving the quality index of transformer oil products.
Our team received the task on August 1 2016. And the relevant technicians immediately made an in-depth study of the operation of existing device, analyzed the possible problems of the original catalyst, and established a great number of research and development directions. After weeks of continuous efforts, we successfully developed hydrocracking diesel hydrodearomatization production I-0 transformer oil process.
In addition, in the process of research and development, we find that the Jinling company also had a spare WSI industrial device, so we further optimized the original catalyst solution, and developed according to the WSI industrial device, only after a simple modification, the device was put into use for new process.
On August 26 2016, the product was put into operation. On September 1, the product was qualified and the device was started successfully on its first run. It took only one month since the start of researching to the production of the device.
Talos committed to the research of oil depth de-aromatic over the years, in this case, the research and development was on the basis of high de-aromatic catalyst Ni, by adding Mo activity between metal and nonmetal modification, developed the de-aromatic catalyst performance and efficient. The catalyst has the good performance in moderate reaction conditions, it could reduce the oil content of aromatics, improve the shade of the products and improve the oxidation stability of oil. The quality of the final product has been absolutely recognized by the customer.
On the basis of this cooperation, in March 2018, Jinling Petrochemical again decided to place another order with Talos, and this time we successfully developed hydrocracking diesel liquid hydrodearomatization production I-0 transformer oil technology and C10+ heavy aromatic hydrocarbon light utilization technology. Since then, we continuously cooperate with Jinling Company to create great value for them with our best efforts.
