Zeolites have a shelf-like structure, in which molecules are linked together like a frame in the crystal, forming many cavities in the middle. Because there are many water molecules in these cavities, they are water-bearing minerals. The water in the zeolite can escape, but this does not destroy the internal crystal structure of the zeolite.

Zeolite plays an important role in animal husbandry as an excellent feed additive that improves animal health in many ways by promoting weight gain, bone growth, feed conversion rate and nutrient utilization.

Molecular sieve is a class of adsorbent or film-like substance with uniform micropores, mainly composed of silicon, aluminum, oxygen and some other metal cations, whose pore size is comparable to the general molecular size, according to its effective pore size to sieve various fluid molecules.

Many reactions catalyzed by zeolites are of the positive carbon ion type, and the reactions occur via positive carbon ion intermediates. Zeolites also have considerable catalytic activity for some free radical reactions and oxidation-reduction reactions.
