Zinc oxide desulfurizer is widely used in the fine desulfurization of various petrochemical raw materials gas and industrial gas, with the advantages of high desulfurization precision and large sulfur capacity. Zinc oxide desulfurization agent is divided into normal temperature zinc oxide desulfurization agent and medium temperature (high temperature) zinc oxide desulfurization agent, the former's use temperature 10 ~ 120 ℃, the latter is 220 ~ 450 ℃, clover appearance, 30% increase in external surface area.

ZnO desulfurization technology is to prepare a suspension of ZnO-containing powder with water or the washing solution of the desulfurization slag returned from the process, and react with SO2 in the flue gas in the absorption equipment to remove the SO2 in the flue gas mainly in the form of zinc sulfite (and zinc bisulfite, zinc sulfate)

 

At present, the methods of producing zinc oxide desulfurizer in China mainly include precipitation method and dry mixing method. Meanwhile, the use of zinc oxide desulfurizer has been expanding, and has been expanded from ammonia synthesis, hydrogen production, synthetic methanol system to TDI project, food grade CO2 purification project, polypropylene and other purification projects.

 

ZnO desulfurization technology involves preparing a suspension of ZnO-containing powder with water or the washings of the desulfurization slag returned from the process, reacting with the SO2 in the flue gas in an absorption plant, and removing the SO2 from the flue gas mainly in the form of zinc sulfite (and zinc bisulfite, zinc sulfate). The by-products of absorption, zinc sulfite, are treated by air oxidation or thermal or acid decomposition to produce zinc sulfate, electrolytic zinc and sulfuric acid (or liquid sulfur dioxide).

In the early 1980s, the research on "zinc oxide flue ash desulfurization and comprehensive utilization of desulfurization by-products" was carried out by the Shuikoushan Mineral Bureau and Zhongnan Institute of Mining and Metallurgy in cooperation with other units, and an industrial pilot plant with a flue gas capacity of 8000Nm/h was established, but it was not applied industrially because some key technical problems were not solved. Since 2000, some large lead and zinc smelters, such as Yunnan Copper Group Company and Guangxi Laibin Smelter in China, have set up industrial devices for zinc oxide desulfurization, but they were not successful because of unsolved key technical problems.

Overseas, Japan, South Korea, Germany and the United States have industrial applications, but some foreign enterprises have higher requirements for the grade and impurities of ZnO soot. A domestic plant had contacted Monsanto (one of the world's largest chemical companies), hoping to introduce ZnO desulfurization technology from the company, but the cost was quite high and had to discourage the listed company.
